Rector’s Reading Group- The Great Emergence: How Christianity is Changing and Why

At 9:15 am on Sundays in May, the Rev. Jim Quigley will lead a reading group that will study The Great Emergence: How Christianity is Changing and Why, written by Phyllis Tickle. Her book in one component in a relatively new movement within the church known as "The Emergent Church." The book offers a historical overview of trends that have influenced the thinking of the church over time, such as Darwin, Freud, and Einstein. The book ends with the hope of the emergent church, which can be generally described as an emerging church marked by mission- a church seeking to "love our world in the spirit of Jesus Christ."
